Stay Connected & Get Involved in Your Loved One’s Senior Care Community

Posted By on March 15, 2022

A common concern that many individuals have when they transition into a senior care community is that their family members and other loved ones will forget about them. They fear that once they move into their new home, no one will visit them or get involved in their new community, but that shouldn’t be the case.

Senior care communities, including The Pavilion Senior Living in Tennessee, welcome and encourage involvement from their residents’ friends and families. However, you may not know how to go about getting involved in your loved one’s community.

Our team at The Pavilion Senior Living is hoping to change that by sharing ways you can stay connected, get involved, and become a part of your family member’s senior care community!

Participate in Community Activities and Events

Throughout our senior living communities in Tennessee, we offer a wide variety of engaging activities to help our residents live life to the fullest. These life enrichment activities can range from board games and crafting to exercise and fitness classes with everything in between.

One way to get involved in your family member’s new senior care community is to join them and participate in one of their favorite activities. By doing so, you can get to know the caregivers and other team members in the community while bonding and spending quality time with your loved one.

Join Your Family Member for a Meal

There is a common misconception when it comes to the food and dining services in senior care communities. Often thought to be bland and unappetizing, the truth is that these communities offer meals and options that are both delicious and healthy.

Family members and friends are always welcome to join their loved ones for a meal in our communities. Family dinners are an important part of spending quality time together and making memories for many of us. But, that does not have to stop just because your loved one has moved into a senior care community.

At The Pavilion Senior Living, our restaurant-style dining experience is something we take pride in, and we invite you to get involved in your loved one’s new community by sharing a meal with them and us.

Form Relationships with the Care Team

Forming and maintaining relationships with the team members at your family member’s senior care community goes beyond just connecting and getting involved. This is an essential part of ensuring that everyone is on the same page regarding the care your loved one is receiving and allowing you to stay up-to-date on their overall health and wellness.

A few ways that you can do this include:

  • Meeting with each member of your loved one’s care team
  • Regularly communicating with the caregivers
  • Showing your appreciation for the care and support that the community’s team members offer

Volunteer Your Time

Like we previously mentioned, The Pavilion Senior Living communities in Tennessee always welcome involvement from our residents’ family members and friends. If you want to go a step further than simply joining your loved one for an activity or event, perhaps you could help host!

“One of the more well-known benefits of volunteering is the impact on the community. Volunteering allows you to connect to [your loved one’s] community and make it a better place (helpguide.org).” Keep in mind that you don’t need any special skills to volunteer. It is all about spending quality time with the members of our community, including your loved one.

Just because your family member has moved into a senior living community does not mean that you cannot be involved in their life. In fact, there are many opportunities that you and your family member can experience together.

We would love to have you and your loved one as part of our The Pavilion Senior Living family! If you would like to learn more about the care and amenities we offer throughout our communities in Tennessee, we invite you to contact a member of our team today!
